integrated plan to meet the high
loads in the summer
Hosting of Al Ain University of
Science and Technology
AADC has prepared an integrated plan to reduce the faults
that may occur to the water and electricity networks, and to
reduce the services interruptions that may arise as a result
of increased loads during the summer.
Al Ain Distribution Company hosted Al Ain University of
Science and Technology in the headquarter of the company
This hosting aims to Communication with the institutions of
the local community and to provide the best quality services
to the staff of the company.
the University of Al Ain Provided the staff of the company’s
with an introductory presentation of the MBA (Master of
Business Administration) program with all its specializations
in accounting, finance, banking, marketing, management,
information systems and human resources as well as other
bachelor programs offered by the university.
The University has also distributed illustrative pamphlets on
the specializations and programs offered and replied to all
inquiries and questions.
His Excellency Mohammed Bin Omair
Al Shamsi, Managing Director of the
company pointed out that the preparation
plan for the summer of 2012 relied on
accurate studies and comparisons with
previous summer plans.
It comes as part of a unified plan adopted
by Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity
Authority in coordination with its other
subsidiaries to face the repercussions
of the large increase in the loads on
the electricity during the summer
months.
Al Shamsi stressed that the company
is seeking to benefit from the
expertise and high level international
experience in the field of reducing
the time and the frequency of
interruptions by adopting the policy
of monitoring and analysis to find
out the real and actual reason of
the fault, follow up and monitor the
performance indicators and to draw the
expected results and correct them.
The plan included the replacement of old
equipment in the electricity networks
with other modern equipment and the
use of sophisticated devices to detect
faults. Such devices have the property of
malfunction anticipation and developing
appropriate solutions to address such
faults before they occur, either by repair
or replacement.
In this framework, the company has
installed new protection devices involving
the latest technology in the world and
replaced the old protection equipment
with modern ones, along with controlling
and calibration of all
protection
equipment and implementing preventive
maintenance programs for all electrical
network equipment before the start of the
summer.
The company also strengthened the
electricity networks to meet the natural
increase in the loads through the
construction and installation of stations,
transformers, cable lines and overhead
lines in various areas of the city, especially
those areas experiencing repeated
outages.
About the existence of potentiality
of power outages at Al Ain during this
summer in spite of all these preparations,
the Managing Director of the company
said that, despite all these efforts and
preparations, this does not prevent the
occurrence of any of the unexpected
outages for reasons beyond the control of
the company.
He added that many of these outages may
be caused by the consumers themselves as
a result of some wrong practices by some
who contribute to the increased electrical
loads through making some expansions
and additional apartments in the house
and erecting tents as usual in the month
of Ramadan.
The Managing Director of Al Ain
Distribution Company stressed that the
consumers need to adhere not to build
apartments or additions in their homes
without obtaining the necessary licenses
from the competent authorities, including
Al Ain Distribution Company, in order to
estimate the additional new loads resulted
from these additions and take them into
consideration.
Al Shamsi warned
of the danger of calling an electricity
technician unlicensed by the company,
pointing out that the use of technicians
like these, who are not eligible and lack
competence and experience, leads to the
execution of electrical installations in an
improper and wrong way that
lacks the required security and
safety measures, the matter
which in turn increases loads
and leads to the occurrence of
frequent interruptions inside the
house.
The Managing Director of Al Ain
Distribution Company stressed
the importance of the use
of electrical contractors and
technicians accredited by Al Ain
Distribution Company to carry
out electrical wiring expansions
in a proper way that achieve the
best security and safety standards, calling
the members of the public to keen on
requesting the presentation of the card
approved by Al Ain Distribution Company
which states that these contractors and
technicians are accredited prior to the
agreement or contracting with them to
carry out electrical installations.
The Managing Director of the company
tackled some of the erroneous practices of
some consumers that contribute in some
way or other in increasing the loads and
the consequent interruptions in electricity
supply, such as leaving the air conditioner
operating continuously in some rooms
of the house when such rooms are free
of persons, and turning on all electrical
appliances in the peak period.
