Announcement of results of Integrated Smart
Management project
AADC participates in the events of
Gitex TechnologyWeek 2014
Within its participation in the events
of Gitex Technology Week 2014,
AADC announced the results of
the first phase of Integrated Smart
Management project of water
distribution network, which is
considered as the first integrated
projects of its kind in the Middle East
region and in the world at large. The
cost of devises used in the project
is estimated to be around 40 million
dirhams, and it provides about 2.8
million cubic meters of water, which
is 30 million dirhams worth.
The developed system of detecting
water leak and monitoring the
network performance (HOMIS)
comes within a new package of the
company’s distinguished projects
meant to cope with the progress
that the sate witnesses in the various
services sector and to maintain the
shift towards smart governments.
For, the project aims at development
of integrated smart management of
water networks.
The first phase results of the new
system, which lasted since the
beginning of 2013 and until the
third quarter of the present year,
showed highly positive outcomes.
For, nearly 1150 leaks water were
detected, and this contributed to
saving around 2.800.000 cubic
meters of water, which is around 30
million dirhams worth. This means
saving an amount of energy that
adds up to about 11 million kilo
watts and reducing the amount of
harmful emissions (CO2) by about
6000 tons during the same period.
In light of such results, the company
will commence the second phase of
the project next year.
The number of network water-leaks
detection devices used in the first
phase of the project reached about
1252, including its accessories,
knowing that the system operates in
a mechanical manner that depends
on measurement of noise level and
analyzing it through mathematical
models in special programs, to
determine possible leak position in
the network and issue reports to all
those concerned with operation and
maintenance. This contributes to
swift detection and fixing of leaks,
and in turn saving large amounts of
water. Similarly, the company shall
soon install more of these devices,
which proved its effectiveness and
usefulness.
Besides, the new system involves
a hydraulic model for the network
which operates around the clock,
and which connects to other
advanced programs adopted in the
company, like the GIS, Customer
Service, Billing, Remote Reading
of Main Meters, a modern program
for performance management,
calculation of standard performance
indicators at multiple levels, and the
use of balance performance cards.
Moreover, water networks Holistic
Management Information System
(HOMIS) links to Maintenance and
Materials Management System
(MMMS).
