help the institution to rationalize water consumption
It gives us pleasure to communicate with through this page allocated by Al Ain Distribution Company
to Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi as a result of their mutual cooperation and out of the believe in the
importance of the communication cooperation between the governmental agencies and department
with the aim of spreading the awareness and generalizing the benefit over the local community which
the environment comes first among its important priorities.
Overview about Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi
Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi was founded in 1996 to be one of the government institutions that are committed to
protect the environment preserve the natural heritage of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and increase the level of awareness
about environmental issues. The Agency is also responsible for developing the regulatory controls to protect the
environment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and to provide advice to the Government of Abu Dhabi concerning the
environmental policies. The Agency seeks to find sustained communities, and protect wildlife and natural resources.
The Agency seeks also to ensure integrated and sustained management for water resources, and to ensure as well the
air quality and reduce climate change effects.
Environment Agency – Abu
Dhabi has released instruction
manual entitles «preserving our
common resources – the sustained
consumption of water in the sector
of works» as a part of its efforts
to enhance the pattern of positive
behavior in the institutions to
preserve water and rationalize
consumption. This comes as a
support to the strategy of water
resources management in the
Emirate of Abu Dhabi that has
been developed during the Water
International Summit 2014.
The provision of safe and sustained
water sources shall represent
dangerous challenge in the present
time and in the future threading
the economy, social life and
environment safety in the Emirate
of Abu Dhabi if not properly
handled. This manual shall halo
the private and governmental
institutions to raise its awareness
with regard to such challenge
as the manual provides detailed
instructions in a language that
helps the institutions to lay its water
strategy and apply the procedures
that will lead to rationalizing the
water consumption. This manual
is available in Arabic and English
and you can download it from the
website of Environment Agency –
Abu Dhabi
in addition to the instruction
manual, Environment Agency – Abu
Dhabi has organized a seminar
that jas been attended by number
of national and international
experts how discussed the
methods of changing the patterns
of environmental behavior and
sustained usage of water. The
experts have helped the institutions
with regard to how to lay the
water strategy and analyze the
different methods to handle water
challenges in the area.
Accrding to the manual, the quality
of water produced and consumed in
the emirateof AbuDhabi has reached
high rates. In 2011, the total annula
demand on water in the Emirate has
reached 3.4 billion cubic meters. The
rate of natural renewal to make up
for the underground water in Abu
Dhabi largely exceeds this demand.
The volume of underground water
extraction has reached 25 times
the natural productivity, taking into
consideration that this variance is
growing.
In case of the continuation of
pumping the underground water
in such manner, it is expected this
necessary water resource stored
since the last ice age i.e. before
more than ten thousand years
shall ran out. With the decrement
of underground water reserves
coincided with the accelerated
growing demand on the water,
Abu Dhabi dependence on the
desalinated
shall
remarkable
increase, taking into consideration
that thedesalination isnot sustained
solution at all representing
complicated environmental and
economic challenges in itself.
