Al Ain Distribution Operates the
First Two Mobile Power Stations
Al Ain Distribution Company, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), started late
last December to operate the first two mobile power stations of their kind inter-Emirate level assembled by
the engineers and technicians of the company in order to provide alternative sources for the permanent regular
power stations to be used for meeting the needs in exceptional and emergency situations, according to Abdullah
Al-Shuraani, Acting General Manager of the Company.
Al-Shuraani added: The two stations will contribute to help the Company to meet its obligations in accordance
with the contracts concluded with customers and the delivery of electricity to their facilities on time, especially
in cases of emergency and unexpected, as well as in the cases of sudden large interruptions in the main stations
of the Company, commending the outstanding efforts of the company’s staff in general and national cadres
among them in particular including engineers and technicians in the design and launch of such new projects.
The second mobile station consists of two main units, the first one operating as a power station, the second
serving as a control room with each unit on a separate truck. The two stations were assembled by a local
specialized company within approximately 15 months with voltage of 33/11 K. V) Each station is able to cover
the needs of a complete residential area with a number of houses ranging from 400 to 500 houses on a
continuous basis until the completion of the procedures and steps to connect the constant electricity to
them.
The composition, installation, and processing of the assembled mobile station will take only 4.5 days to
complete while the minimum time required to deliver the permanent power supply under normal conditions
is about 4 months for any area.
The Acting General Manager General of Al Ain Distribution Company stressed the importance of assembling
and operating these two stations in the extension of the urgent “connections” necessary to provide an
appropriate alternative to electricity in case of sudden interruptions, including extreme weather conditions
and conditions in which the process of repair and return of power may take several days or weeks, pointing
out that The project comes within the framework of its efforts to improve the quality of its services and the
required standards, thus enhancing its competitiveness in line with the directives of the good government.
