USE LOW FLOW TOILETS

If you have a single-flush toilet, consider replacing it with a dual-flush one. A dual flush toilet lets you select the amount of water you use per flush—a lot or a little, for solid waste or liquid. A single-flush toilet uses 12 Litres of water on average, whereas a dual-flush toilet does the same job with less, even as low as 3 Litres per flush.

If it’s not the right time to buy a new toilet, you can reduce the amount of water your current toilet uses per flush by placing a brick or full bottle in your cistern (the water tank above your toilet). This works by taking up space inside your cistern and fooling it into adding less water back in after every flush. Find the best size and placement that works for your toilet and does not disrupt its flow.
