AADC employees finished 4600 training hours on Health and Safety

Al Ain Distribution Company’s Health, Safety and Environment accomplished about 4600 training hours for the employees for the year of 2019, concerning the importance of knowing risks, knowing responsibilities in maintaining environment, knowing how to control, evaluating risks, investigating incidents and performance measurment in order to achieve the expected goals, increase the safety awareness among AADC’s employees, consultants and contractors, and educate them with safety procedures as well.  Also, these aspects will ensure their commitment to all requirements of spreading awareness and preventing any kind of injury, disease and incidents.  As well as follow the requirements of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment in designing, construction, operation and maintenance.

In addition, to affirm the readiness of emergencies’ teams, HSE conducted 3 monk evacuation tests; Two were conducted in the main building in participation of external entities such as Civil Defense and Al Ain Police Administration. This step is carried to maintain the continuous improvement of integrated management system that contribute in reducing the time of response from 5 mins to 3 mins achieved through the ongoing training and monk fire tests.  

Moreover, the department conduct around 11 awareness campaigns under title “Heat stress” on how to work in hot weather, given in cooperation with Department of Energy to 230 employee and user. Also, it carried around 19 checks and 44 inspection tours to ensure the commitment of AADC’s contractors to the Midday Break Law and the requirements of Security and Safety.  

In this regard, AADC’s HSE department launched “Ambassadors of Safety”, the first initiative among Abu Dhabi Power Corporation companies. This initiative is targeting each individual as he is responsible to keep his community clean and safety by download AADC smart app and click on “Aman” service to report any kind of safety violations immediately at any time and place in Al Ain City.

Finally, Eng. Abdulhadi Al Hajeri, HSE Department Manager, stated that AADC is always seek to upgrade the standards of Health and Safety at work and commitment to apply the best and latest world practices in the field. Also, to ensure the spread of the culture of Health and Safety at work, HSE Department will keep conducting more workshops and trainings to increase employees’ awareness and preparedness to face any risks.
