The technical training center of Al Ain Distribution Company, which established in the innovation month of 2016, started to receive trainees from universities inside and outside the UAE, including the United States of America, Singapore and Australia. As well as to train and follow-up the national engineers (developee category) within the company and train students of Secondary Technical School to support their projects. The training is free and is a collaboration work by electricity department engineers as they work on qualifying trainees based on the available possibilities at the center, where students can practice their theory study in reality surrounded by all security and safety requirements. AADC starts to implement some plans to improve the center like place expansion to accept more trainees and to build a training place as a real work place.
Training for national engineers
AADC managing director, Abdulla Al Sheryani stated that electricity directorate focuses on monitoring, improving and activating the center programs, which are specialized in technical majors to ensure the provision of proper training environment for the trainees. He added that the aim of the center is to upgrade the technical and scientific competencies of universities and institutions’ students and to improve work performance of developees (new engineers) for free, as well as to meet the new directives to the accomplishment of the integration between the theory and practical application and to introduce trainees with AADC stations equipment.
Moreover, he said that AADC activates some of its applications and projects, which reflect the creative and excellent ideas of the company, for trainees and engineers as they can use and review them through the smart tablets in safe manner and at lowest cost. It is worth to be noted that the center provides assistance for students in their graduation projects.
Activating the social responsibility
Eng. Fatima Al Dhaheri, Manager of Electricity Directorate, the idea of establishing the technical center raised in line with the community service programs that AADC set to activate its social responsibility in different aspects such as filling the field with trained and qualified engineers under the supervision of AADC expert engineers. Also, she pointed that the cost of establishing the center is nothing as it built by internal efforts and supplied with existing tools, equipment and systems (various control systems, high and low voltage transmission panels, smart control systems, remote control, live line protection, programing and test, automatic generator, etc) which placed in the location after being replaced and stored. All these equipment were reinitialized for the training purposes. Finally, she stressed that the establishment of a new equipped center is an opportunity for students to experience their studying into reality.
Training steps
In this regard, Eng. Tariq Shadeed, Head of Maintenance Unit, said that the center is working through a studied plan as training starts with an introduction about the company, its departments, its systems, and its programs as well as duties of electricity engineer inside or outside the company. After that, trainees will start training on the internal equipment on the company stations and on the external equipment in the center, and finally received training in the work place under supervision of AADC engineers.
