Al Ain Distribution Company, an affiliate of Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority , participated in the world water summit 2018 with the two portable substations project which consider the only one of its kind in the emirate that aiming to find alternative sources to the existing permanent power stations to meet the emergency and exceptional circumstances.
Mr. Abduallah El Sheryani , the acting managing director of the company, said that “the mobile substations will effectively contribute and enable the company to meet its commitment and the contractual obligations as per the signed contracts with its customers and connecting the power supply to the customers’ premises at the specified time especially in the exceptional and emergency cases, The mobile stations also enable the company to face the challenges and troubles at the surprised and un expected interruptions in the company grid stations . He also thanks and appreciated the significant efforts that are excreted by the local and expats employees in designing and commencing this new projects.
The mobile substations consists of two main units , the first one is used for generating power and the second unit is being used as a control room , each unit is being installed on a separate trailer with capacity of (33/11kv) that may enable the station to cover all the population requirements in a whole populated area including about 400 to500 houses. and to rapidly restore electrical service to areas subjected to blackouts as a result of equipment failure. continuous supply in a whole district including around 400 to 500 houses till fixing and restoring the regular power supply.
Mr. Abduallah El Shyriani confirmed on the significant importance to assemble and operate such plants in laying urgent connections that secure alternative power supply to restore power after a grid failure or in bad weather conditions that need long time for repairing and restoring the regular power supply.
